Motorcycle and two-wheeler insurance in Morocco: compare before you ride
Morocco has more than 1.3 million two-wheelers on its roads, and the urban delivery boom adds thousands more every month. Yet third-party liability is mandatory from the very first ride, and an uninsured accident can cost years of income. Wafir compares liability, third-party and comprehensive rates from Moroccan insurers for scooters, motorcycles, mopeds and e-bikes — including formulas designed for delivery riders.

Why go through wafir.ma?
From compulsory liability to comprehensive
Liability only, third-party with theft and fire, or comprehensive covering damage to the vehicle: compare the level of cover that fits your machine's value.
Delivery and professional-use formulas
Food delivery, courier work, intensive commercial use: some insurers surcharge or refuse this risk. We spot those who actually cover professional use.
Theft, fire and accessories cover
Scooter theft is soaring in cities. Compare theft, attempted theft and fire cover, plus how accessories (top-case, gear) are handled across insurers.
Rider personal injury cover
Liability does not compensate your own injuries. Rider personal-injury cover handles your medical costs, disability or death — essential for daily motorcycle use.
No-claims bonus and instalments
Use your claim-free history to lower the premium, and compare annual or instalment payment options to suit your budget.
ACAPS-licensed insurers
We only compare insurers licensed by the Insurance and Social Welfare Supervisory Authority (ACAPS). Your guarantees are enforceable and your claims secured.

Frequently asked questions
Q.Is insurance mandatory for a 50 cc scooter in Morocco?
Yes. In Morocco, every motorised land vehicle, including 50 cc scooters and mopeds, must carry at least third-party liability (RC) insurance under the insurance code. This guarantee compensates the damage you cause to others (pedestrian, another vehicle, passenger). Riding uninsured exposes you to a fine, vehicle impoundment and, after an accident, to repaying compensation that can reach hundreds of thousands of dirhams yourself. Liability is the legal minimum; theft and own damage remain your burden without additional guarantees.
Q.What's the difference between liability, third-party and comprehensive for a motorcycle?
Liability (RC) covers only the damage you cause to third parties: it is the legal minimum. The "third-party" or extended third-party formula adds guarantees such as theft, fire, glass breakage and sometimes rider cover, without covering damage to your own bike in an at-fault accident. "Comprehensive" additionally covers material damage to your vehicle even when you are at fault, usually after a deductible. For a new or valuable motorcycle, comprehensive makes sense; for an old scooter, liability or a third-party theft-fire policy is often enough.
Q.Am I covered if I use my motorcycle for delivery?
Not automatically. Most standard contracts cover "private and commuting" use but exclude intensive professional use such as food or parcel delivery. If you deliver and only declared private use, the insurer can reduce or even refuse compensation after a claim for misrepresentation. You must declare delivery use: some insurers offer a dedicated guarantee or surcharge (often +20 to 50%), others refuse this risk. Wafir points you to insurers that genuinely accept professional and courier use.
Q.My scooter is stolen: am I compensated?
Only if you took out theft cover, which is never part of basic compulsory liability. With this guarantee, the insurer compensates you after filing a police report and declaring within the contractual deadline (often 5 working days), usually up to the vehicle's market value on the day of theft, less a deductible. Beware of common exclusions: theft without forced entry, key left in the vehicle, anti-theft device not meeting contract requirements. For a scooter exposed in the city, theft cover is often the most useful addition to liability, given how frequently two-wheelers are stolen.
Q.How much does motorcycle insurance cost in Morocco?
The price depends on engine size, value, rider age and experience, city and use. As a guide, liability alone on a 50 cc scooter runs around 600 to 1,200 MAD a year; a third-party theft-fire formula on a 125 cc, between 1,200 and 2,500 MAD; and comprehensive on a large bike, from 3,000 to 6,000 MAD. Delivery use usually adds a 20 to 50% surcharge. A no-claims bonus lowers the bill. This is exactly what Wafir compares: at equivalent cover, gaps between Moroccan insurers often reach 30 to 40%.
Q.What documents are needed to insure a two-wheeler?
To subscribe, you generally need the registration card of the vehicle, your national ID and your driving licence of the matching category. For mopeds ≤ 50 cc, the rules are looser but insurance is still required. If you were previously insured, provide a claims-history statement to claim your bonus. On subscription, you receive the insurance certificate and the green card to keep on you: these are what the authorities check. The contract takes effect on the agreed date, often immediately after paying the first premium.
