Prep / grande école in Morocco

ENSA, ENCG, EMI, INPT, ISCAE, HEM, Al Akhawayn studentsBudget: 30K-200K MAD · Average rate: 4.5%

Moroccan grande écoles public (ENSA, ENCG) and private (ISCAE, HEM, Al Akhawayn) charge 30K-180K MAD/year tuition. Banks offer dedicated student loans at bonus rate (4-5%) with deferred repayment until end of studies (3-5 years).

Eligibility

School admission certificate, student ID, mandatory parental surety (stable income 8K+ MAD/month). Some private institutions have agreements with banks (Attijariwafa-HEM, BMCE-Al Akhawayn). Maximum age 30 at start.

Covered schools / trainings

All public grandes écoles (ENSA, ENCG, EMI, INPT, ENA, INSEA, ENSAM) and state-recognized private (ISCAE, HEM, Al Akhawayn, UIR, Euromed University, ESSEC Rabat). Also: OFPPT higher professional schools.

Repayment options

3 options: 1) Total deferral (capitalized interest): no repayment during studies, all at exit. 2) Partial deferral: only interest during studies, capital after. 3) Immediate amortization: rare but possible if student income. Total duration 5-10 years.

Numeric example

ISCAE Master 5 years: 80K MAD/year × 5 = 400K MAD. Loan 400K at 4.5%, total deferral during 5 years + 7-year repayment: monthly 6,700 MAD for 7 years (total 562K). If partial deferral (interest payment 1,500 MAD/month during studies): final monthly 4,800 MAD (total 528K, savings 34K).

Practical tips

  • Negotiate school-bank convention for bonus rate (-0.5 to -1 pt)
  • Opt for partial deferral rather than total (30-50K savings over duration)
  • Disburse annually instead of single shot (reduce interest)
  • Combine with scholarship/family aid to minimize borrowed amount
  • Anticipate repayment date (end of studies vs first job)
