About Eqdom
Eqdom — Société d'Équipement Domestique et Ménager — is Morocco's oldest financing company. Created in 1974 by the Moroccan State through SNI and the Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion to finance household equipment, it has been listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange since 1978 and is licensed by Bank Al-Maghrib as a financing company specialising in consumer credit. Société Générale took control in 2002; the sale of Société Générale's Moroccan operations to the Saham group, announced on 11 April 2024 and completed on 3 December 2024, moved Eqdom into the Saham Bank ecosystem.
Shareholding in 2026: following the 2025 mandatory takeover bid approved by the AMMC and the purchase of a further 3.1% from Investima in July 2025, Saham Bank holds 57% of Eqdom's capital and voting rights, alongside Moroccan institutional investors (RCAR, CIMR, Atlantic Re) and the free float. Amine Lahrichi, formerly head of operations at the Saham group, has been chief executive since 1 July 2025, succeeding Aziz Dalaoui.
2025 results: according to the annual accounts reported by Boursenews, net production reached 3,436 million dirhams at end-December 2025 (+22% year on year), driven by dealer and retailer partnerships; gross outstanding loans rose to 11,376 million (+11%) and net banking income to 590 million (+9.3%). Net income turned positive at 95.5 million dirhams versus a 6.9 million loss in 2024, helped by a favourable cost of risk, and a dividend of 57 dirhams per share was proposed. The board approved a 2026-2028 roadmap focused on commercial partnerships, technological transformation, customer experience and risk control.
Car loans: this is Eqdom's historical engine, distributed directly at partner car dealers and retailers (new and used). The company publishes no rate grid; as a benchmark, our 2026 new-car loan comparison places market rates between 4.5 and 7% for new vehicles (terms up to 84 months, 10-15% down payment) and between 6 and 9% for used cars (vehicles no older than 5-7 years, 60-month terms).
Personal loans and civil-servant credit: according to our 2026 comparison of 10 lenders, Eqdom's consumer loan is offered at 6.5 to 9% for an indicative cap of MAD 250,000 over 72 months, with an average response time of 2 to 5 days, the branch being the fastest channel. Civil servants benefit from payroll deduction at source, which secures repayment and usually unlocks better terms. The rate applied remains capped by the maximum conventional interest rate set every six months by Bank Al-Maghrib, and our consumer-credit guide explains how to read the APR and total cost.
Applying with Eqdom, step by step: 1) simulate your monthly instalment on Eqdom's website or with our calculator; 2) prepare your national ID, last three payslips or pension statement, three bank statements, employer certificate and proof of address — plus the dealer's quote for a car loan; 3) file the application online, in branch or with the partner; 4) after approval, sign the contract and the death-disability insurance; 5) for an earmarked loan, funds are released directly to the seller. Consumer-protection law 31-08 gives you a seven-day withdrawal period after signing a consumer credit agreement.
Complaints and recourse: start with a written complaint to Eqdom's customer service (branch or head office, 127 boulevard Zerktouni, Casablanca); like any credit institution, the company must reply within 40 working days. Failing a solution, refer the matter free of charge to the Moroccan Banking Mediation Centre, which also covers financing companies, then as a last resort to Bank Al-Maghrib. If you struggle to repay, act before the third missed instalment: our foreclosure and mediation guide describes the procedure.
