About RMA Assurance

Royale Marocaine d'Assurance (RMA) is one of the Kingdom's oldest insurers. Founded in 1949 and acquired by Othman Benjelloun in 1988, it absorbed Al Wataniya in 2004 to become RMA Watanya, before reverting to the RMA name in 2016. It is now controlled by O Capital Group, the holding company created in 2021 from the merger of FinanceCom and Benjelloun Mezian Holding, and led by Tawfiq Drhimeur, director and chief executive since 27 March 2024 (Challenge). A joint-stock company with share capital of MAD 1,796,170,800 governed by the insurance code (law 17-99) and licensed by ACAPS, it is headquartered at 83 avenue des FAR in Casablanca.

Market weight: according to the 2025 ranking published by Le Matin on 27 April 2026, RMA wrote 9.53 billion dirhams of premiums in 2025 (+7.1%), i.e. 14.8% of a 64.27 billion market, making it the country's 2nd-largest insurer behind Wafa Assurance and ahead of Mutuelle Taamine Chaabi and AXA. RMA is also the largest shareholder of Bank of Africa (around 27% of the capital), which explains the cross-distribution of bancassurance products in the bank's network.

Car insurance: according to our 2026 comparison of 5 car insurers, RMA accounts for about 15% of the motor market and offers the most competitive third-party rates in the panel, from MAD 1,800 per year for an average profile, with comprehensive cover around MAD 6,800 per year for a city car (35-year-old driver, 50% bonus, Casablanca). Fully online subscription with card payment and e-certificate is available. Since 4 August 2026, compulsory third-party liability cover has been raised by 5% at all insurers (law 70-24): our 2026 car insurance guide details the impact on your premium.

Home, health, savings: RMA covers multi-risk home insurance (owner, tenant, MRE second homes), individual and group health and protection, retirement savings and corporate lines, including workplace accidents (dedicated line on 05 22 26 26 36). To compare, see our home insurance guide and our life insurance guide.

Network and digital: the official website reports more than 300 points of sale across Morocco (tied agents and direct offices), a customer relations centre on 2526 and the MyRMA app to manage car, health and savings policies, report a claim and track reimbursements.

Taking out a policy with RMA, step by step: 1) request several quotes (our forms or RMA's simulator); 2) gather your national ID, vehicle registration and claims record for car cover, proof of address and contents value for home cover, and a medical questionnaire for health; 3) sign online, in a branch or with an intermediary; 4) pay the premium and collect the certificate; 5) read the policy notice, which sets excesses, exclusions and reporting deadlines (generally 5 working days for a motor claim).

Complaints and recourse: first send a written complaint to RMA (branch, MyRMA, 2526 or head office). If the answer is unsatisfactory, refer the matter free of charge to ACAPS, then to the insurance ombudsman. For a dispute over borrower insurance attached to a loan, the Moroccan Banking Mediation Centre is also competent.
