About AXA Assurance Maroc

AXA Assurance Maroc is the Moroccan subsidiary of the AXA Group. The group entered Morocco in 1996 by acquiring Al Amane, then created AXA Assurance Maroc on 25 May 2000 through the merger of AXA Al Amane and Compagnie Africaine d'Assurances (CAA), alongside the ONA group. Since December 2006, when ONA sold its 49% stake, the company has been wholly owned by AXA. An insurer licensed by ACAPS for non-life, life and capitalisation business, it is headquartered at 120/122 avenue Hassan II in Casablanca. It is led by Gilles Fromageot, chief executive since 24 February 2025 (succeeding Meryem Chami), who also heads AXA Afrique Atlantique, the regional entity launched in late 2025 from Casablanca to bring together Morocco, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Cameroon and Gabon (Le Matin).

Market weight: according to the 2025 ranking published by Le Matin (27 April 2026), AXA Assurance Maroc wrote 7.21 billion dirhams of premiums in 2025 (+5.8%), i.e. 11.2% of a Moroccan market worth 64.27 billion (+7.6%); it ranks 4th behind Wafa Assurance, RMA and Mutuelle Taamine Chaabi. The company serves around 2 million customers and manages 26.4 billion dirhams of assets (212 Assurances); together with AXA Services Maroc and AXA GBS, the group employs more than 7,000 people in Morocco.

Car insurance: AXA sells third-party, extended third-party and comprehensive cover, with fully online subscription, card payment and an e-certificate accepted by the police. According to our 2026 comparison of 5 car insurers, AXA holds about 16% of the motor market and sits at the premium end: for a city car and an average profile, expect around MAD 2,400 per year for third-party cover and up to MAD 9,800 per year for comprehensive cover with premium assistance, versus 1,800 to 6,800 at the cheapest competitor. Important reminder: the compulsory third-party liability premium was raised by 5% for all insurers from 4 August 2026 under law 70-24; read our complete 2026 car insurance guide before renewing.

Home, health, life and savings: the company offers multi-risk home insurance for owners and tenants (main residence or vacant MRE property), individual and group health plans with a network of partner clinics, and tax-deductible retirement savings and protection solutions. To benchmark its pricing, our life insurance guide and our home insurance comparison set out the market ranges.

Digital and services: the MyAXA app (iOS and Android) lets you view policies, report a claim, track a health reimbursement and download certificates; assistance is reachable on 2992; the official website lists tied agents, approved garages and partner clinics. AXA also reports running a generative-AI platform for motor claims handling.

Taking out a policy with AXA, step by step: 1) compare several quotes (our forms or AXA's simulators); 2) prepare your national ID, vehicle registration and the previous insurer's claims record for car cover, a lease or title deed for home cover, and a medical questionnaire for health; 3) sign online, with a tied agent or a broker; 4) pay the premium (annually or in instalments) and collect your certificate; 5) keep the policy notice: it sets the excesses, exclusions and reporting deadlines.

Complaints and recourse: first send a written complaint to AXA's customer service (branch, MyAXA or head office). If the answer is unsatisfactory, refer the matter free of charge to ACAPS, the supervisory authority that handles policyholder complaints, then to the insurance ombudsman. Disputes over a loan covered by borrower insurance also fall under the Moroccan Banking Mediation Centre.
